Devlog #1 - 27 April 2025

Hey everyone! I'm Chris, and I’ve been quietly grinding away on my passion project for a while now—a side-scrolling space shooter with a modern presentation. I figured it’s about time to start documenting the process, even if a lot of the heavy lifting has already been done. This devlog will serve as both a behind-the-scenes look and a sort of journal of the weekly progress working on the game.
While the core of the game is already in place, I’ve still got tons of content to build—more levels, enemies, music, and polish. I realized that now is the perfect time to start sharing the process, both to track progress and maybe help or inspire others who are into solo dev.
Things I've done last week:
Finished level 4 of the game (Lunar Underground), including background art and Nemesis mode for the level.
Added two new enemy types. One completely new and one that is a variation of an enemy introduced before.
Created the first boss fight. Including art, coding, SFX.
Started writing and recording boss battle music.
Given more interesting names to existing levels
Low Earth Orbit --> Aegis Rises
Approaching the Moon --> Ashen Halo
Lunar Surface --> Dust And Silence
Lunar Underground --> Beneath the Regolith
Created level selection screen icon for the next location
